FAQ

Why do plants need calcium supplementation?

Calcium is an essential secondary nutrient for plant growth. It is mainly concentrated in the cell walls and membranes, playing a vital role in stabilizing cell structures and promoting the development of new tissues. It also has a critical influence on fruit quality. Although calcium exists in the soil, environmental factors can hinder its absorption. Excessive application of nutrients like nitrogen (ammonium nitrogen, NH₄⁺), potassium (K), and magnesium (Mg²⁺) may antagonize calcium uptake, reducing the plants efficiency in absorbing it. In addition, calcium is not very mobile within the plant. Therefore, calcium deficiency symptoms first appear in newly growing tissues. Common symptoms include:

  • Death of growing points
  • Deformation or shrinkage of young leaves
  • Leaf edge scorch
  • Poor root development
  • Deformed or diseased fruits (such as blossom-end rot, cracking, or soft rot)

To maintain healthy growth and prevent physiological disorders caused by calcium deficiency, plants must be supplemented with calcium in a timely manner. Calcium application not only helps stabilize cells and support tissue development but also improves crop quality and stress resistance.

Main functions of calcium supplementation include:

  • Strengthening cell wall structure: Prevents cell collapse and reduces pathogen invasion.
  • Enhancing fruit quality: Reduces the occurrence of fruit cracking, blossom-end rot, and soft rot.
  • Boosting stress tolerance: Helps crops cope with heat, drought, and excess rain.
  • Promoting growth and development: Stabilizes cell division, participates in signal transduction, and supports new tissue formation.

Recommended calcium fertilizer products:

  • Meily Calcium:Designed for fruit trees. Strengthens cell walls and reduces cracking, blossom-end rot, and soft rot, helping fruits grow full, healthy, and glossy.
  • Goodly Calcium:Suitable for cereal crops. Enhances root and panicle development while supplementing calcium, effectively increasing panicle formation and grain filling.
  • Fully Calcium: Specially designed for vegetables. Contains nitrate nitrogen to support rapid leafy growth, effectively reducing leaf edge scorch and tip burn, and promoting vigorous growth and stable yield.
  • Fly Calcium:A fully water-soluble calcium fertilizer suitable for aerial sprayers. It dissolves quickly and sprays evenly, preventing nozzle clogging and ensuring fast and efficient calcium delivery.
