Starting from Taiwan's diverse agricultural development, rooted in the island's health-conscious, non-toxic environment, precision agriculture has evolved by integrating smart agriculture 4.0 technologies. Established in 1973, DIAMOND QUANTUM Biotech has adhered to its corporate philosophy of "technological leadership, excellent quality, and customer satisfaction." The company has specialized in calcium carbonate production for nearly 40 years and has actively researched natural plant protection liquid technology. It has successfully overcome the challenge of reducing the particle size of the plant protection liquid to below 100 nanometers and developed a liquid state using coke and limestone through a high-temperature calcination process at 1200°C. This breakthrough in natural plant protection liquid technology has been applied to agriculture, marking the beginning of a new era for Taiwan's crop health cultivation and establishing DIAMOND QUANTUM's technological leadership in transforming the precision agriculture industry and creating new market opportunities.
According to Chairman Lin Dong-Wu, DIAMOND QUANTUM's research and development of natural plant protection liquid primarily uses nano-calcium as a carrier, adding essential trace elements needed by plants. Spraying this on the leaves allows plants to absorb nutrients directly from the leaf surface and fruit skin. The benefits include shortened harvest time, increased yield, reduced costs, and higher profits. With sufficient nutrients, plants can naturally extend their productive period.
In 2004, DIAMOND QUANTUM received the National Quality Assurance Golden Statue Award. It has since earned numerous domestic and international certifications, including the ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2021. The GDF natural plant protection liquid development, after significant efforts and technological breakthroughs by DIAMOND QUANTUM's team, was the first to market a natural plant protection liquid. Its key features include being odorless and non-toxic to humans and the environment. It has gained widespread recognition after being tested by agricultural experts and farmers in Thailand, where it was sprayed on withered melon vines, fruit trees, vegetables, and other plants. After 30 days of testing, the plants showed miraculous recovery, impressing local farmers and officials with the excellent MIT technology from DIAMOND QUANTUM. It has gained widespread recognition from local agricultural officials and farmers.
Additionally, National Chung Hsing University’s former Vice President and Honorary Professor Cheng Zheng-Feng pointed out that from the perspective of plant health cultivation, spraying essential elements directly on the leaves supplements the nutrients missing from soil absorption, especially calcium, silicon, and other trace elements that protect and defend plants. The reconstruction of plant defense systems and beneficial soil microbial ecosystems also provides protection to leaves and roots, promoting healthy root development and nutrient absorption. The rebuilding of soil microbial ecosystems also relies on the addition of organic matter to the soil. For sustainable agricultural development, a new concept of plant health cultivation should be established to create a healthy growth environment for plants and grow safe, healthy fruits and vegetables. This is essential for human health and the preservation of the environment. It will help to realize the Council of Agriculture's goal of reducing pesticide use by 50% within ten years, improving food safety and promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture. In the future, extreme weather conditions are inevitable, but the plant health cultivation concept and experimental results may offer a way to overcome challenges in cultivating plants under extreme climates.
Next, Chien Hsin University of Science and Technology Management School founding dean Professor Lin Wen-Tsan stated that in plant health cultivation and management mechanisms, the development of smart agriculture 4.0 can be leveraged, using NB-IoT to monitor the growing environment and quality of tea plants. In the future, digital agricultural management, precision farming, and economic development should be integrated to reduce the labor intensity and overwork of farmers while addressing the shortage of human resources.
Taiwan's modernized, precision, and technologically advanced agriculture will be the focus of the 2021 Precision Agriculture Summit Forum, to be held on May 21 at the Chiang Shuo-Jie International Conference Hall, Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, Taipei, where industry, government, and academia will share ideas and strategies for the future.
