“Taiwan-Japan Plant Biostimulant Symposium” Concludes Successfully: Experts from Both Nations Join Hands to Shape a Sustainable Future for Agriculture
2025/09/19
The “Current Status of R&D and Promotion of Taiwan–Japan Plant Biostimulant Products,” organized by the Taiwan Biostimulants Association, was successfully held on September 12 (Friday) at the CH BIOTECH R&D CO. LTD. Hall. The event brought together leading experts from academia, industry, and research institutions in both Taiwan and Japan. Through in-depth dialogue and case sharing, participants sought solutions to agricultural challenges under climate change and laid a solid foundation for future bilateral cooperation in the field of biostimulants.
Japanese Expert Provides In-Depth Analysis of Regulatory Trends
The symposium invited Dr. Masakazu Ushiro, representative of the Japan Biostimulants Association, who delivered a keynote speech titled “Current Status of Biostimulant R&D and Regulatory Promotion in Japan.” Dr. Ushiro explained the historical process of integrating traditional agricultural knowledge with modern biostimulant concepts in Japan. He also highlighted the “Biostimulant Labeling Guidelines” issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan in May 2025, providing participants with a clearer understanding of the Japanese market’s development and regulatory outlook.
Showcasing Taiwan’s R&D Strength: Nano Calcium Silicate as a Highlight
During the symposium, Dr. Chao-Chen Hsu, R&D Director of Diamond Quantum Biotech, presented a talk titled “Case Study on Inducing Stress Resistance in Crops Using Nano Calcium Silicate Materials.” Through multiple field trial cases, Dr. Hsu vividly demonstrated how Diamond Quantum’s nano-calcium silicate products function as inorganic biostimulants, effectively enhancing plant health and significantly improving tolerance to stresses such as drought, high temperatures, salinity, and heavy metal toxicity. This research not only validates Taiwan’s innovative strength in biotechnology but also offers farmers practical solutions for sustainable agriculture.
Cross-Disciplinary Dialogue Sparks New Perspectives
In addition to the keynote speeches, the symposium also featured contributions from experts representing CH BIOTECH R&D CO. LTD., the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute, and National Cheng Kung University. They shared insights on international regulatory trends, crop physiological regulation mechanisms, as well as the characteristics and effectiveness of various biostimulant products. The active exchanges among participants fostered new ideas on how to apply biostimulants in practical production to increase yield, improve quality, and simultaneously reduce environmental impacts.
Looking Ahead: Toward Sustainable Agriculture Together
The successful hosting of this symposium not only facilitated academic and technological exchanges between Taiwan and Japan in the field of biostimulants but also opened a new chapter for future international collaboration. Participants widely agreed that through
collective wisdom and cooperation, Taiwan and Japan can exert greater influence in biostimulant R&D and promotion, contributing to global food security and the sustainable development of agriculture.
